Kimmei is Christoph Kimmel from Bavaria, Germany.
Born in the Berchtesgadener Land, the gate to the Bavarian Alps. Growing up in a beautiful area surrounded by mountains close to the Untersberg, the mountain with the most myths and legends in the Alps. After living in the Bavarian forest for some time, Kimmei now resides on a farm in lower Bavaria.
Self described as the typical music-addict, always collecting and listening in every free moment. It all started with Queen, T.Rex, Deep Purple and bands from his father’s influence and generation. After some phases of hip hop, punk and trance, he dedicated about a decade to metal, where he played guitars or drums in several bands, releasing a thrash metal album and touring Europe.
After opening his mind to electronic music, Kimmei attended his first psychedelic trance party at legendary cave club in Salzburg and was totally blown away by the music and vibe. Shortly after, he started DJing and producing psytrance.
His DJ-sets, ranging from 142 – 165 BPM, often vary in style from funny, trippy weirdness over to deep and mystical to powerful or straight in the face, and always with a big focus on weaving a story. Kimmei has played sets at some of the finest underground dancefloors in Europe and Goa.
In 2012, he started the project INS MITTN, who organize high quality psychedelic events in Bavaria and Austria
